I can’t live without my DMS

I want to let you know about a fantastic piece of equipment I’m using to help accelerate my rehab, Dr. Jake’s Deep Muscle Stimulator (DMS). Dr. Jake and I go way back on the Perform Better (PB) tour. With the DMS, Dr. Jake has treated all of the PB presenters (as well as many attendees) and kept us all in one piece during our long seminar days.

If it would not have been for Dr. Jake and the DMS I don’t know if I could have gotten through some of the long workshops on the 2008 PB tour. My hip needed to be resurfaced but I needed to finish the 2008 season with PB. I could barely tie my right shoe and was noticeably limping the entire day. I distinctly remember limping to Dr. Jake and running back to my station after a 5-minute DMS treatment. SO – to say that I have experienced and believe in the magic of the Dr. Jake’s DMS is the understatement of the year.

The DMS unit is a hand-held percussive massagers that provides a host of benefits, including:

  • Increased circulation
  • Reduced pain
  • Faster rehabilitation from injury
  • Increased lymphatic flow
  • Break up of muscular scar tissue
  • Tissue Regeneration
  • Soft & Active tissue release

Since I had already experienced the DMS, I knew it would become an integral part of my Hip Resurfacing rehab. I bought the DMS before surgery and knew it would be my companion for a lifetime. The first week I started using it away from the surgical area. I used it on my back, opposite leg and calves.Into the second week, I started getting closer to the scar and by the third week I was using it on all of my affected muscles and to break up scar tissue. I’m very careful to stay away from the actual hip and the bones associated with the joint, as the percussive stimulus can destroy connecting metal parts and loosen any pins or screws one may have as a result of an orthopedic procedure.

Now I carry the DMS from home to work.Several times I have forgotten to bring it home with me and I will go back to work and get it. Now -everyone at work comes into my office for the “jackhammer,” as it is affectionately called at IHP. MY trainers use it before and after their workouts and now they are starting to use it on their clients. Our clients are starting to wonder where they can get one.

I recommend everyone check this machine out and congratulate Dr. Jake on a GREAT contribution to the health care and fitness industry.
